Louise Querbes Obituary

QUERBES, LOUISE R. Louise R. Querbes passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006. Visitation was held at Osborn Funeral Home, Shreveport, on Friday, Nov. 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Graveside service began at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, at Forest Park Cemetery. A memorial service followed at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Osborn Funeral Home with Monsignor Carson LaCaze officiating. Mrs. Querbes was a native of Dallas and a longtime resident of Shreveport. She was a graduate of LSU, where she was a cheerleader and member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She served on the board of The Spring Street Museum and was a member of the Junior League of Shreveport and the Colonial Dames of America. Mrs. Querbes especially enjoyed her 40-year association with El Mundo, her stock syndicate and her weekly bridge group. Miss Lou was the epitome of a Southern lady who was always beautifully dressed and had a warm smile and a kind word for everyone. She was a positive influence on all that knew her and will be greatly missed. Mrs. Querbes was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Justin R. Querbes Jr., on Oct. 23, 2006; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.W. Robinson; her sister, Ruth Robinson Marshall; and son-in-law, Robert Blewett. She is survived by her three children and their spouses, Jan and Jay Querbes, Dianne and Clay Querbes and Katherine Querbes Blewett; her brother, C.W. Robinson Jr.; her eight grandchildren, Robert Andrew Shavin, Steven Philip Shavin, Marjorie Querbes Briley, Elizabeth Querbes Sammons, Jennifer Robinson Querbes, Justin Querbes Blewett, Nellwyn Winston Blewett and Carolyn Louise Querbes; four great-grandchildren, Katherine Ann Andreeff, Louise Querbes Andreeff, Andrew Robinson Briley and Stewart James Briley; and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the Querbes family has requested that friends honor the memory of Louise Querbes through gifts to Southfield School, 1100 Southfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71106, Christus Schumpert Hospital Foundation or Hospice, One St. Mary Place, Shreveport, LA 71101. Mrs. Querbes was fortunate to be surrounded by nurturing and loving caregivers, Angela Allen, Alice Goins, Laura Green, Christine Hughes, Ellen Bartell and Christus Schumpert Hospice.
