Luke Dolford "L.D." Dummons II

1945 - 2024

Luke Dolford "L.D." Dummons, II, concluded his 78-year journey on this earth, on Sunday, September, 22, 2024, in Baton Rouge, LA. He was born November 15, 1945, in New Orleans, LA, to his proud parents, Celane McKneely Dummons and Luke Dolford Dummons, Sr. He was educated in the East Baton Rouge Public School System, graduating from Capitol High School, class of 1963. He attended Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. Luke spent many years serving our community as a postal worker with the U.S. Postal Service, retiring after 41 years of service. He loved cooking and baking, and his favorite pastime was watching football and cheering on his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers. In 1966, he entered into his first marriage to Patricia Ann Thomas. To this union, two sons and one daughter were born. In 1992, he married Gwendolyn Bazile, and to this union, one son was born. He is survived by his beloved wife, Gwendolyn Dummons; sons, Karl Dummons (Laurie), Kendrick Dummons (D'Angela), and Kolby D'Shanski Dummons; daughter, Kimberly Dummons (Keenan); sister, Mary Lee Robvais (Alfred); grandchildren, Lindsay McKinney, Kolyn Dummons, Keyonna Patin, and Karly Dummons; and a host of loving family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luke Dolford Dummons, Sr. and Celane McKneely Dummons; brother, King David Dummons; and granddaughter, Hannah Marie Dummons. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, October 4, 2024, from 1 p.m. until a Celebration of Life beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
