Mark Hurst Obituary

Mark Randall Hurst, 62, a resident of Clinton, LA, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 9, 2024. He was born in Amite, LA. He was a graduate of Louisiana State University, with a Bachelor of Science in Forestry. He was the owner of Hurst Forestry Services, where he worked alongside his brother for 38 years. Mark and Richard Hurst followed in their father and great grandfather's footsteps in the field of Forestry. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Clinton his entire life. He was an active board member at Feliciana Bank & Trust. He was on the board of Silliman Institute for many years, and served Silliman long after retiring from the board. He was an original board member of East Feliciana Little League. He was an original board member and President of Feliciana Forestry Association. He was a member of the Louisiana Forestry Association, the Association of Consulting Foresters, and Society of American Foresters. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Clinton from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm and then on Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 9:00 am until funeral services at 11:00 am, conducted by Rev. Mitch Axsom. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery in Clinton. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Eleanore Hurst; two sons, Bryan Hurst and wife Erin Hurst of Madisonville, LA; Seth Hurst and wife Samantha Hurst of Clinton, LA; brother Richard Hurst and wife Amy Hurst of Clinton; two grandchildren: Riley Hurst and Cole Hurst; and niece Ashley Myers and husband Cary Myers; and nephew Richard Hurst Jr. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Bryan Hurst; parents Carlton and Betty Hurst; and grandmother Allie Dee Hurst. Pallbearers will be Richard Hurst, Bryan Hurst, Seth Hurst, Richard Hurst Jr., Cary Myers, Roy Schmidt, Mark Ryan Schmidt, Caleb Schmidt, and Benji Felker. Honorary pallbearers will be William Andrews, John Allen Phares, John Irwin Stewart, Don Kilbourne, Phares Knight Roddy, and Dennis Aucoin.
