Mary Louise Boone Von Brock

Mary Lou Von Brock passed away Wednesday, September 24th surrounded by her loving family. A piano teacher for 64 years, she had many wonderful students, was active in the Louisiana Federation of Music Clubs, and editor of the National Federal of Music Clubs and was a member of the Music Club of Baton Rouge for 33 years. She was a native of Elkton, Kentucky, attended Agnes Scott College in Atlanta and earned a Master's Degree in Music Education from Northwestern University in Chicago. Mary Lou was an avid and competitive bridge player and a week before her death won the Slam Pot. Predeceased by her husband, Robert Von Brock, she is survived by her four daughters, Ann Von Brock (Sherman Fearing), Nancy Von Brock (John Tarlton), Mary Boone Treuting (JB), and Susan Sidwell (Ira). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Bailey and Neville Fearing, Boone and Porter Tarlton, Blaise, Ben (Rachel), and Robert Louis Treuting, and Brock, Sarah, and Michelle Sidwell; one great-grandchild, Lenin Treuting; brother, Johnny Boone of Nashville and sister Manie Balch of Golden Colorado. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 3 PM at University United Methodist Church where she was a member for many years. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dr. Robert Von Brock Memorial Scholarship at LSU Foundation or the music program of University United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
