Michael "Mike" Dumiller

Michael "Mike" Dumiller, age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 20, 2024 after a courageous battle with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Patty Ezell Dumiller; daughter, Michelle Dumiller Carlton and husband Ben; son, Michael John Dumiller, Jr.; honorary brother and sister, Jesse and Susan Pitre; sister-in-law, Linda Ezell; grandchildren, Cooper Carlton, Kyleigh Carlton, and Brayden Dumiller; nephew, Joshua Ezell (Alexis); nieces, Jinci Ezell Taylor (Billy); Megan Ezell Willmann (Korey); numerous great-nephews and nieces; and his loyal friend Keno. He is preceded in death by his father, Parnell Dumiller; mother, Laura Margery Dumiller Strawn; adopted father Dr. Willard Strawn; father and mother-in-law, W.T. "Dub" and Nola Ezell; and brothers-in-law, Larry Ezell and Glen Ezell. Mike was a devoted Livingston Parish educator who served 40+ years as a classroom teacher, coach, and administrator. He influenced numerous students and athletes through his dedication and passion. He was driven by his mission to enhance the educational and athletic opportunities for those students. His impact as a coach and mentor will forever be cherished. Mike was always willing to offer assistance to anyone in need, no matter if they were a "cluster" or not! He used his "no-nonsense" approach to ensure that he was understood and his giving heart to make one feel supported. Mike had many passions in life. He loved his family immensely and his greatest joy was watching his children and grandchildren succeed in athletics and life. Paw Paw was a regular at the sidelines of their ballgames and he attended many local ballgames with the schools and community. He also loved going to the movies or watching sports on TV! One of his top passions was his never-ending desire to keep a perfectly manicured lawn free of debris and limbs! Pallbearers will be Jesse Pitre, Jimmy Watson, Jason St. Pierre, Byron Hill, Rudy Smith, Tim Beatty, Clint Carver and Lucien Weber. Honorary Pallbearers are Michael Dumiller, Ben Carlton, Cooper Carlton, Brayden Dumiller and Josh Ezell. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend Visitation at Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home's Chapel, located at 7738 Florida Blvd., Denham Springs, LA, on Sunday, August 25, 2024, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will follow Monday, August 26, 2024 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 865 Hatchell Ln., Denham Springs, LA, from 10 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. officiated by Fr. Matthew Graham. Interment will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, located at 11817 Jefferson Hwy., Baton Rouge, LA.
