Michael Charles "Mike" Freeman

Michael "Mike" Charles Freeman, native of Shreveport, LA, passed away in Baton Rouge, LA, on October 15, 2013, at the age of 61. The Omega service will be from 1:00pm-1:30pm followed by the Memorial service from 1:30pm-2:30pm on Friday, October 25, 2013, at Bethany North Campus - Prayer Chapel, 13855 Plank Rd., Baker, LA, 70714. Ken Ellis and Hank Henagan of Bethany Church will be officiating. Desselle Funeral Home is handling funeral arrangements. Mike was born in Shreveport, LA, on February 29, 1952. He graduated from C.E. Byrd High School and continued on to receive a Bachelors of Art in Business Administration from Southern University and A&M College of Baton Rouge. Mike was an entrepreneur and businessman throughout his career working with IBM, Louisiana Department of Economic Development, Isle of Capri Casino, Country Home Mortgage, and Liberty Bank. He enjoyed fishing, playing golf, attending Southern University football games, and cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. He was also actively involved in Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Lambda Kappa Kappa Chapter of Baton Rouge and Bethany Church. Mike was previously married to Tanya Moye' Freeman, of Baton Rouge, for 35 years, during which they had and raised three beautiful children. Mike is survived by his sister: Marcia Freeman Joyce, three children: Chayla Monique Freeman, Michael Chadwick Freeman, and Matthew VanBuren Freeman, niece: Carmen Witcher-Gold, and nephews: Bryan Witcher. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Charles Freeman, and his mother, Nadine Davis Freeman.
