Paula Marie Morgan Barnett

Paula Marie Morgan Barnett, 74, a resident of Clinton, LA, died on Friday, September 29, 2023 at her home. She was retired, after a twenty year career with East Louisiana State Hospital. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at the Bluff Creek Baptist Church, 1706 Highway 63, Clinton, LA, from 9:00 am until funeral services at 11:00 am, conducted by Rev. Cole Permenter. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery in Centreville, MS. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Barnett Ligon and husband Mike Ligon of Clinton, LA; son Richard Wright Barnett Jr. of Loranger, LA; sister Flora Nell Stutzman; brother-in-law Mark Phipps; six grandchildren: Gabriel Ligon, Morgan Ligon Owens, Kathleen Ligon Bill, Jacob Barnett, Abigail Barnett, and Carson Barnett; ten great-grandchildren: Avery Ligon, Molly Ligon, Eric Owens, Jude Owens, Brady Bill, Georgia Bill, Jennings Bill, Anna Grace Reinhart, Baili Barnett, and Kaiden Barnett. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard "Dickie" Wright Barnett; parents Jessie J. Morgan and Jimmie R. Morgan; sister Sharon Phipps; and sister Patsy Shaw. Pallbearers will be Gabriel Ligon, Carson Barnett, Jacob Barnett, Hunter Bill, Chad Owens, and Christian Reinhart. Honorary pallbearers David Rogillio and Jay Hodges. She was a 1966 graduate of Clinton High School, where she was an Eaglette and member of the Homecoming Court. She devoted her time to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, LSU Girls' Basketball, and gossiping with her Early Evening Back Porch group. She and her beloved Dickie were sweethearts from the time she was 12 years old. Her most important advice was "Always make sure you have your red lipstick on." In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Barnhill Preserve, 11342 HWY 955E, Ethel, LA 70730.
