Phyllis Rispone Obituary

Rispone, Phyllis Moberley Phyllis Moberley Rispone, 55, a native of Baton Rouge, died on Friday, July 1, 2005, at her home. She was a beautiful and generous person who loved her faith, family and friends and treated everyone the same regardless of their station in life. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Dean Moberley and Helen Hebert Moberley. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Edward L. Rispone; son and daughter-in-law, Thad and Brandy Rispone, Baton Rouge; daughter and son-in-law, Dena and Carter Balart, Augusta, Ga.; daughter and son, Lauren Rispone and Kevin Rispone, both of Baton Rouge; three grandchildren, Charlotte and James Balart, both of Augusta, and Lucy Rispone, Baton Rouge; four brothers and a sister-in-law, Dean Moberley and Bruce Moberley, both of Baton Rouge, Gary Moberley, Houston, and Steve and Jamie Moberley, Houma; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sammy and Frankie Rispone, Gary and Glenda Rispone, Kaye Lato, Johnny and Clydette Rispone, all of Greenwell Springs, Jimmy Rispone, Jerry and Bronwen Rispone, all of Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be Dustin Moberley, Garrett Moberley, Ryan Moberley, Sean Moberley, Chris Polito, Christopher Rispone and Drew Rispone. She was a graduate of Redemptorist High School and attended LSU. She was active with St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church and School, Redemptorist High School, St. George Catholic Church and School, Bishop Sullivan High School and Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Visiting was at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Sunday, July 3, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a wake vigil service at 7 p.m., presided by the Rev. Joey Angeles and recitation of the rosary at 8:45 p.m. Visiting at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Drive, on Monday, July 4, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Tom Ranzino, and assisted by Deacon Albert Ellis. Burial in St. George Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to your alma mater, house of worship or favorite charity.

Mr Eddie and Family,

When I worked at LHOA, Mrs. Phyllis was my favorite patient. No matter how bad or weak she felt, she still kept that beautiful smile on her face,held her head high, and managed to make me laugh everytime! She would always make my day. When I left LHOA and transfered to Mary Bird Perkins in Hammond, I thought of her daily. I would e-mail LHOA staff and check on her often. Donna has been on vacation and just e-mailed me the news I was dreading. I am so sorry for your loss. Your family was truly blessed to have Mrs. Phyllis for many years and now she is in heaven smiling down on us all.

Mr. Eddie and family,

Mrs. Phyllis was a fine example to us who struggle to practice our Catholic faith. Her suffering measured far longer than most of us could have endured. As our Pope John Paul II offered his up to our Lord, I am sure Mrs. Phyllis did too. Certainly, hers was lived with a quiet dignity that we all should remember.

Yes, she has departed from our presence too soon, leaving many behind who will miss her more than words can say and their tears fall from weary eyes immensely bereaved. I know that you still have an aching in your heart for her to be with you, but you can be consoled by the knowledge that she has joined our Father in Heaven.

I attended St. Gerard and Redemptorist for 12 years. The Rispones and Moberlys were very familiar names. Pat (Theriot) Duhe and I were very good friends growing up, and I met Phyllis through Pat. Also, two of my brothers graduated with Gary and Bruce. We are all so sorry for your loss. I have kept up with Phyllis through the years as my children attend St. George and Bishop Sullivan. Her strength and ability to always have a smile on her face is something to be proud of. Having just lost my father 3 months ago, I understand your loss. Ryan brought my daughter, Alana, to Phyllis's home & family get togethers & she made her feel part of the family.
