Mrs. Gabel was my teacher at Audubon Elem. I remember her for reading stories to us after lunch that I really liked. King of the Wind, Rifles For Waite, Anne of Green Gables. And her daughter visited our class and gave us a biology lesson. Thank you for such a great 5th grade experience, Mrs Gabel

I feel so lucky to have known Granny Rita. Although living with her this past year had its moments, I miss every one of them. While she was not my grandmother, it certainly felt that way. I knew she loved me like her own, and not like someone that married into the family. She is surely missed, but we know she is were she wants to be and have so many wonderful memories that will live with each of us forever. "The key to a happy marriage ... "

Granny Rita was an amazing woman. I am blessed to have been apart of her life. I also cherish that my daughters were able to know her. She influenced many of the attributes that make me who I am today. I will always cherish that she was my Granny!
Love,
Michelle

I was sorry to hear of Mrs. Rita's passing. She was a wonderful, kind person. I remember visiting the Gabels when I was young and admiring her wedding portait. I always thought she was a beautiful bride and that's how I wanted to look when I got married. I have no doubt that is how she looked when she met Mr. John at the gates of heaven! God bless the Gabel and Gipson families for their loss.

Granny Rita truly enjoyed her life and shared her joy and love of life with all who knew her. She had a full and wonderful life, one of generosity, fun and much love. I feel blessed to have gotten to know her. Though she will be sadly missed, there will only be good memories, lots of fun stories, and a wonderful legacy for all who knew her.

Mrs. Gabel was my 5th grade teacher at Audubon Elementary in 1975. I will always remember her as being the sweetest, most patient teacher ever. I don't think I ever remember her raising her voice or getting mad at any of her students, which is pretty hard not to do when you teach 5th graders. To her family that she leaves behind please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
Thank you Mrs Gabel for everything!Rest in Peace.

Mrs. Gabel was my 5th grade teacher at Audubon about 30 years ago. She was the sweetest, kindest teacher I remember in all my years of schooling. When I think of my elementary years, she is the first teacher that comes to mind.
Rest in peace Mrs. Gabel, and thank you for the difference you made in the lives of your young students. You were loved very much.
God's peace be with her family.

Rita was a wonderful person...a very special lady. We will mourn her passing, celebrate her joyous arrival into Heaven (they'll throw a Mardi Gras there just for her), and treasure our many sweet and funny memories of this fabulous lady!

To All of Maw Maw Rita's family,
My deepest sympathy to all, I know that she will be missed by all. She loved life and her family which is all she ever wanted and needed, how wonderful that is to be that kind of person. I personally loved Rita and love her family. Janie & Robert needs to be commended for the care they have given to both their parents (that is truly God's work) they both deserve a crown in heaven. The last time I spoke with Rita she told me that she was tired and was ready to go home to Jesus and that she loved her family and she had, had a good life and that she knew her family would miss her (I hope to feel that way when my time comes). What a blessing for her to have been here to see her great grandchildren. Be reminded the pain will subside in time and memories remain always. God bless all of her family.
