Robert Fuqua Obituary

Robert Harold Fuqua passed away on May 30, 2023, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Robert was born November 15, 1953 in Natchez, MS to Percy and Jean Fuqua. After marrying his beloved wife, Tyla Coley Fuqua in 1976, he graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He and Tyla moved to Baton Rouge where Robert recently retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Robert knelt with three little boys in church. He coached sports teams, led Scout troops, and shared his deep love of music and the outdoors with the three sons that he would consider his greatest accomplishment in life. He is survived by his wife and these sons, John Tabor "Tab" Fuqua of Bozeman, MT, Robert "Hunter" Fuqua of Baton Rouge, LA, and Tyrol Alan "Ty" Fuqua and fiancé Ashli Wells of Simi Valley, CA. Robert is also survived by a bonus son, Andrew Baer, his wife Erin and beautiful daughters Mackenzie, Vivian and Christian, all of whom he loved so much. Left to cherish his memory are his brother Danny (Faye) Fuqua of Pleasant Plains, OH, brother Alan Fuqua of Houston, TX and sister Ramona Fuqua of Minneapolis, MN with a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and loved ones. There are no plans for services at this time but if you'd like to honor Robert's memory please consider donating to Wounded Warriors or Mid-Western Children's Home, P.O. Box 48, Pleasant Plains, OH 45162. May God bless each of you.

Sending prayers and my sincere condolences to the Fuqua family. I am so sorry for your loss. Robert was always available for a conversation about anything, but we often talked about our hometowns, MS State, and our drive from Baton Rouge. May God bless you and your family during this time of sorrow. Robert will be missed.

To the Fuqua family, may God give you comfort and strength.
I remember Robert, we've talked many times, he always seemed to be happy and smiling. Always the gentleman, courteous and kind. If you needed help with a work situation he was always there to assist. Robert will surely be missed by his CORPS family and friends.

So sorry to hear of Robert's passing. He was a good friend who made me laugh over lunch hour at work and during an Engineering Prep Course we took together. He had those classic one-liners that would make you burst out laughing no matter who was around. I will definitely miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and sons.
