Rosemary Louque O'Rourke

Mrs. Rosemary Louque O'Rourke died peacefully at 10:42 am on Friday, December 21, 2012, at her residence with her family around her. Rosemary was born on September 8, 1924, in Welcome, La to Nicholas and Ephee Louque. She attended Soule Business College in New Orleans. She worked for the New Orleans Cotton Exchange before marrying her childhood sweetheart Edmund O' Rourke, Jr. in 1947 after his return from the war. She was a superb cook and made the most wonderful seafood gumbo. She enjoyed gardening, growing African violets, reading, and working word puzzles. When she was younger she enjoyed fishing with her husband and friends. The family asks that anyone who knew and appreciated Rosemary remember her in their prayers. The family would like to thank Melinda Kellar at Brighton Bridge Hospice, the staff at PDI and the ladies at The Gardens. Rosemary is survived by her son, Brian Patrick O'Rourke and wife, Dea; grandson, Colin Patrick O'Rourke. She is preceded in death by her husband of over 65 years, Dr. Edmund N. O'Rourke, Jr., her parents; 1 brother, Whitney A. Louque; 1 sister, Clothilde Bourgeois. A private memorial service for the family will be held at a later date.
