Scott Joseph Gogreve

1977 - 2018

Scott Joseph Gogreve, a native of Baton Rouge, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2018, at the age of 40. He was a graduate of Bishop Sullivan High school, where he played on the soccer team. He attended Northwestern State University. He later moved to California and worked in the film industry on commercials and television as a production assistant and later progressed to the art department. Scott was an avid Saints fan who had a passion for dogs, golf, video games and a love of visiting museums. Strong in his beliefs, Scott had a huge heart of gold and never met a stranger. He will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him and experience his capacity to love. Scott is survived by his daughter, his pride and joy, and what he considered his greatest accomplishment, Jewel Gogreve and her mother, Ana de la Pena; his mother and stepfather, Karen and Fred Skal; sister, Kristy Elias (Cory); stepbrothers, Fred John Skal (Trisha) and Shawn Skal; stepsister, Shelley Skal; nieces and nephews, Helen, Josh, Katelyn, Lauren, Brandan, Ethan, and Devin; uncles, Chuck Gogreve (Dinah), Bart Gogreve (Joan), Jay Gogreve (Sharon), Jack Gogreve (Giovanna), Steve Sallinger (Michele), and Rick Sallinger; aunts, Barbara McCurdy (Annette) and Ann Elks; and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his father, Donald Joseph Gogreve; maternal grandparents, Melba and Allen Sallinger; and paternal grandparents, Jewell and C.A. Gogreve. Visitation will be held at Resthaven Funeral Home on Friday, February 16, 2018, from 9am until funeral service at 11:30am. His final wishes were to go back to California and be at peace in his favorite place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scott's name to the Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank. Honorary Pallbearers will be Alex Vidan, Mark Comish, David Clayton, Richie Burtt, Jack Gogreve, Cory Elias, Fred John Skal, and Shawn Skal.
