Stephen Myshrall Obituary

Visitation and a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, beginning at 9:30 AM at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA, for Stephen A. Myshrall ("Steve") who passed away on September 15, 2024. Steve was born in Maine on August 13, 1946, and attended Catholic High School (CHS) where he was recently recognized by CHS for his baseball accomplishments and inducted into the CHS Grizzly Great Hall of Fame. Steve also attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and earned a degree in marketing. He primarily worked in outside sales but continued to pursue his love of sports by playing fast pitch softball and golf. Most recently, he could be found at Greystone Golf Course where he was known as the best dressed marshal handing out tee times, witty zingers, and a genuine smile to players who loved the game as much as he did. Steve is best known for his quick wit, dry sense of humor, kind smile, "specialty" gift wrap, pristine penmanship, love of crossword puzzles, and for never ever forgetting a birthday! Steve will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his brothers: Dave and John Myshrall; beloved daughters: Britney Piner and Alexis Breedlove; former wife: Sharon Schexnayder; sons-in-law: Andy Piner and Blake Breedlove; grandchildren: Madison Hanks, Sam Pennington, Eli Marshall, Camille and Keller Piner, and Dillin Breedlove; nephews: Todd, Doug, and Ryan Carter; Dustin, Stephen, Clint, and Connor Myshrall; and Brandon Scully; sisters-in-law: DeeDee and Terri Myshrall and Phyllis Loveland; and brothers-in-law: Shannon Springer and Ray Carter. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Courtney Myshrall; his sister, Carolyn Carter Springer; and his parents: Lucille Paris and Joseph Roderick Myshrall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you kindly donate to the Courtney Myshrall Scholarship Fund at St Joseph's Academy or the EBR Food Bank.

To the myshrall family, so sorry for your loss. Steve played fast pitch wit my dad(Jim Lieux, Sr. My dad was amazed at how quick steves hands were, whether batting or fielding ground balls. My dad used to call him henry hands, what great nickname. With Steve batting leadoff, you could always cou t on him being on base or hitting a home run. Steve was also a gentleman off the field, he was always great to the kids of players. My dad and Steveand mr. Joe cabin had a special bond as all were catholic high grads. Bears forever. The world will miss this great person. Rest in peace. Sorry I will not be there, I am out of town.

Myshrall family, I was so sorry to read about Steve's passing. I have such great memories of our good times at Forest Park for all of those years. I am sure that he and E.J. are discussing softball about now. I will not be able to attend his memorial service due to my health. I am keeping all of you in my thoughts and prayers through this difficult time.

Mysh and I were friends for over 60 years. I played golf with Him a couple of times a week, every time we came home to BR and then we would go to lunch. He was one of the best shortstops to ever play fast pitch softball. We will miss him terribly. To Sharon, Alexis, Britney, Dave, John and ALL the Myshrall Family, We are very sorry for Your Loss and will keep You in our Daily Prayers. RIP MYSH, Skipper and Wanda
