Travis David Obituary

Travis Scott David, 41, was involved in a very tragic accident Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, and went to be with his Lord. He was born Oct. 6, 1970, and was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother, friend and coach to many. He always enjoyed life to the fullest with his saying "That's just how I roll." No matter what he was involved in, he was the life of the party. His memory will live on forever because anyone who had the privilege of knowing him will surely never forget him. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kristie Calloway David; four children, Candice Georgette Taylor, Alexis Lind David, Skylar Kade David and Larsyn Rylee David; his parents, Russell and Jenny David; brother, Ryan David, his wife Tina, and their daughter, Sylvie; brother, Jason, and his wife, Jennifer; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, David and Valarie Calloway; two sisters-in-law, Shannon Calloway Laird, her husband, Joel Laird, and their sons, Layton and Dylan, and Misty Calloway Richard, her husband, Harold Richard, and their daughters, Victoria "Tori" and Jaycee. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceded in death by his grandparents, "Boots" and Genevieve Tircuit; his grandfather, Russell David Sr.; and a niece, Katlyn Nicole Laird. Visitation at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway, on Friday, Nov. 4, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., with a religious service at 7:30 p.m. Please sign the guestbook at www.resthavenbatonrouge.com.

My heart goes out to his family , and especially to his brother Jason and his parents who I've had the pleasure of knowing from my years at DOTD also. It's a shock and a very sad situation and I didnt know anybody who had a bad word to say about Travis. Such a bright light when he was around.I just cant say it enough how good that whole family is. They are really good people and they have my deepest sympathy through this sad time. God bless them all.

If tears could build a stairway and heartaches make a lane, God will make a pathway for you to be together once again....... this is part of a poem I wrote in memory of my mother when she passed away. My heart was broke and ever so empty as I sat at my desk at Formosa in the CCN unit, writing this poem, and working with your beloved husband.

Travis and I made friends way back in the early '90's. There was never a dull moment when he was working. Travis had a way of making my very sad days of losing my mother, 1997, easier to bear with all of his laughter and off the wall jokes or comments.

You and your family are suffering such a terrific loss in losing such a good person, man, father, husband, friend, colleague and especially soulmate to Mrs. Travis David. He was a very proud man. Proud of his family and loved his life. You could tell that his love for his wife and family was so strong by the way that he just never had a bad day. Behind a happy husband and father is a strong loving woman. Family was the one thing Travis always spoke of even in his jokes and laughter. It's so easy to know if a man is totally in love with every aspect of life by their personality and character, which he was SO full of. And by that, we know he is now with our lord, being the "life of the party" and entertaining Jesus Christ and those that are in heaven.

My biggest blessing in life is when I met my husband, my soulmate. When travis discovered that we were together, Travis, of course, had to joke and tease him. Scott and I were so blessed to have been both colleagues and friends with Travis. of course, if you know Travis, he's your friend.

From our hearts to yours and to straight to Our Heavenly Father, please accept our deepest sympathy. We can only imagine the emptiness you feel in your heart and always will. There are absolutely NO words to comfort you. We, like everyone that cherished his friendship, and you, the family with such enormous loss, the largest loss for a wife, mother, father, child and other members of the family, we will continue to pray with you and for you, especially in the times that you're so overwhelmed that you even forget how to pray.

With our deepest sympathy, we are so very sorry for your loss, Mr.  and Mrs. J. Scott Brown. (formerly Susan Cook)
