Wayne Matherne

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Wayne Matherne on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, at the age of 78. He was my high school sweetheart, best friend, and husband of almost 54 years. Wayne was an I & E Designer and amateur radio operator, call sign N5YFC. He had a passion for woodworking and would spend hours in his shop creating many projects. He was a member of The Baton Rouge Woodworkers Club for many years. Wayne will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He is survived by his loving wife, Jane; daughters, Kim (Stephen) and Dawn; brothers, Ewell and Gerry. Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lurline; brothers, Marvin and Ron; sister, Pie. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Denham Springs, on Monday, January 16, 2023, beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. The interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
