Bennie Gunter Obituary
Bennie Jack Gunter, born and raised in Ringold, passed away on October 22, 2025 at the age of 85. He was born to Crowley Cleve Gunter and Delphia (Parsons) Gunter on November 15, 1939. After his time in the Army, Bennie lived in California and Oregon, and even spent some time working on an off-shore oil rig out of Lafayette, LA. He eventually returned to Southeast Oklahoma and took on work as a machine operator for the local rock crusher. He was baptized on April 4, 1984 at the First Baptist Church in Antlers, the town where he spent his last 50 years. Bennie was happiest when he was doing something outdoors, whether that was hunting or fishing with his friends. He loved talking to people and never met a stranger. Bennie is preceded in death by his mother: Delphia Gunter; father: Crowley Gunter; brothers: George Gunter, Paul Gunter, and Otis Gunter and wife Barbara; and sisters: Billie Nowlin and Jimmie Dickerson. He is survived by his children: Jeff Gunter and wife Beth of Coweta, Christina Kibby and husband Chuck of Antlers, Tim Gunter of Antlers, Nikki House and husband Jory of Silo, Brent Peterson and wife Rosemary, and Michael Montalvo of Antlers; good friend: Clay Mack; grandchildren: Jeffrey Gunter, Ty Gunter, Carter Gunter, Colton Kibby, Christopher Kibby, Jeret House, Brayden Gunter, Kipp Gunter, Scott Peterson, Chelsie Roden, Chante Robbins, Chelsea Kibby, Neely House, Angie Peterson, and Sara Pidwell; and great-grandchildren: Cooper Gunter, Grayson Gunter, Clark Gunter, Lucy Roden, Corey Roden, Chloie, Kibby, Maizie Kibby, Chipper Kibby, Nicholas Kibby, Dixon Kibby, William Morgan, Aaria Morgan, and Atticus Morgan. A family night will be held on Thursday, October 30, 2025 from 6-8PM at Serenity Funeral Service in Antlers. Memorial service will take place at 10AM, October 31, 2025 at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel. Services have been entrusted with Serenity Funeral Service and Cremations of Antlers, Oklahoma.
