Joan (Gernand) Head went to be with her Lord on January 4, 2021 at her home in Antlers, Oklahoma. She was born on March 31, 1930 in Antlers to Charles Delbert Gernand Sr. and Laura Edith (Jones) Gernand. Joan married Troy Head Jr. on November 8, 1973 in Sherman, Texas. She was a member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed reading, keeping current on medical research, writing poetry, and long conversations with her beloved family and friends. Joan is preceded in death by parents: Laura Edith Gernand and Charles Delbert Gernand Sr.; a daughter: Jean Ann Antwine; son-in-law: Johnny Walker; and sisters: Donna Hyde, Amanda Jane Love, Lorelei Curry. She is survived by her husband: Troy Head Jr.; children: Michelle House and husband Donald, Yvonne Walker, and Kevin Antwine and wife Vera of Antlers, Oklahoma; brother: Charles D. Gernand, Jr. and wife Mary Ellen of Antlers; sister: Nadine Self of Hugo; grandchildren: Bradley House, Eric House, Emily Mills of Antlers, and Melissa and Wesley Walker of El Paso, Texas; and great-grandchildren: Lauren House, Terrell Morgan, Blake Morgan, and Luke Cowett. Services for Joan will take place on January 5, 2021 at 11AM at OddFellows Cemetery with Brent Franks officiating.
