1941 - 2016

Michael Yates, 74, passed away February 23, 2016 in McAlester. He was born October 7, 1941 to Loy T. and Ida Althea (Oliver) Yates in Dallas, TX. Michael married Carol Martin June 3, 1967 in Dallas, TX. He worked in many different trades and was an appliance repairman, electrician, truck driver just to name a few. Michael enjoyed working in the yard, fishing, hunting and shooting the trees as his family and friends joke with him. Him and his wife Carol are members of the Emanuel Full Gospel Church of Antlers. Michael is preceded in death by his parents; brother: James Yates and sister: Dorothea M. Denton; two nephews: Bradley Martin and G.W. Denton. He is survived by his loving wife: Carol of McAlester; nieces and nephews: Sandra Lee Belkamp of Terrell, TX, Robert Dale Denton of Denver, CO, Donnie Denton of Arlington, TX, Jeff Tallant and wife Jennifer of Sand Springs, Greg Tallant and wife Stephanie of Blue Ridge, TX, Kevin Martin of McAlester, Ricky Lynn Martin and wife Sonya of Antlers, Leslie Fry and wife Trisha of McAlester, Tommy Henagar of Center Point, and Tracy Martin and wife Ladawnya of Fanshawe, Kimberly Fry of Colony, TX, Patrick Starnes and wife Brandy of Center Point; brother and sister in laws: Larry Martin, Lillie Tallant, Patsy & Don Henagar, Ricky and Ruth Ann Martin; along with other relatives and friends. Funeral Services for Michael were held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Emanuel Full Gospel Church in Antlers with Tracy Martin Officiating. Burial followed at the Antlers City Cemetery. Pallbearers included: Jeff and Greg Tallant, Kevin and Ricky Lynn Martin, Leslie Fry and Tommy Henagar. Honorary pallbearers were: Roger Melton, Marty Medley, Patrick Storms, Billy Brown, Max Clark, Donnie Henagar and Shelby Dawes. Family night was Friday, February 26, 2016 from 6-7 PM at the funeral home chapel.
