Sonny Jones

Sonny Jones, 76, passed from this life Thursday, November 22, 2018, in Durant. He was born August 7, 1942, in Comanche, the son of L.B. and Jewel Dean (Stiner) Jones. He moved to Oklahoma City after graduation. Sonny was united in marriage to Joan Ell Standifer February 22, 1963, in Oklahoma City. Sonny was an avid golfer who liked to travel and tell stories. He also enjoyed reading, watching golf and the game show network. Above all else he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his father: L.B. Jones; mother: Jewel Dean Jones; wife: Joan Ell Jones; son-in-law: Ronald Matthews; special son: Randy Rhoten; and best friend and golf partner: Larry Jackson. Survivors include his mother-in-law: Pauline (Shockey) Hammon of Antlers; daughters: Lesa Michele Matthews of Newcastle, and Kelly Dyann Janoe and husband Randy of Antlers; son: Cory Bradley Jones and wife Jeri of Ozawkie, KS; seven grandchildren: Codi Brooke Berry, Ambra Nicole Fairman, Dakota Paige Fleming, Zachary Hunter Paul Matthews, Keli Michele Sisco, Haden Bradley Stondefer Jones, and Mackenzie Taylor Joan Matthews; special daughter: Sharese Tate; six great-grandchildren: Austyn Berry, Ronon Berry, Chaylen Fleming, Dylan Fleming, Theodore Barnard, and Reed Fairman; along with many other relatives and friends. Funeral Services for Sonny will be held at 3:30 PM, Monday, November 26, 2018, at the Serenity Funeral Service Chapel.
