Cathy Lynn Hardeman

1952 - 2025

Cathy Lynn Schofield Hardeman, beloved wife of Robert Walter Hardeman for more than 31 years, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at Piedmont Hospital.

Her celebration of a life well-lived will be private.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Shelton Schofield and Virginia Schofield.

She is survived by her three children, Pam Hargrove (Chris), Beth Carnahan (Adam), and Gregg Swint (Angela); three bonus children, Chris Hardeman, Amy Hardeman, and Andy Hardeman; her seven grandchildren, Lindsey Johnston (Leah), Payton Hargrove (Kinsi), Cody Brown, Carter Hargrove, Shelton Swint, Caroline Campbell (Garrett), and Jackson Swint, her seven great-grandchildren, Charlie, Woods, Claire, Adam, Anna, Catie, and Maggie; three brothers, Gary Schofield, Bruce Schofield (Janet), and Mark Schofield (Moni); two nieces, April Inoko (Tai), Alicia Schofield (Ryan), and two great-nephews, Griffin and Aiden, as well as her life-long friend, Kathy Wright.

Cathy worked for many, many years at Fitz-Symms Photographers helping people bring both their ordinary and their most special moments to life, but to truly know Cathy was to know that she adored her family. She believed that love was a forever commitment and that it required daily action and nurturing. She was unconventional to say the least. While not perfect, her children believe that she was the most perfect mom for them. She made little moments, big and celebrations grand. She welcomed all to her table. She was generous and giving to a fault. If you were lucky enough to be loved by her, you know she loved completely, and she held nothing back. As a very young mother with enormous obstacles in her path, she raised her three children with the help of her mother. Perhaps her very best days were spent with she and Rob being Tat-Tat and Papaw to their grandchildren. Her grandchildren say, "She was magic!" She believed in the power of family and celebrations. She taught each one the importance of one another and to never leave without saying, "I love you." She will be forever missed and her life always celebrated and cherished.

The family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thanks to each of the nurses and caregivers that touched her life this last week.
