Doris Ruth Goetz Highsmith Charnock

1926 - 2025

Mrs. Doris Charnock passed away on December 3, 2025, at the age of 99.

Doris was born on September 29, 1926, in Blissfield, Michigan, and moved with her family to Georgia in 1934. As a military spouse she lived in Michigan, North Carolina, Okinawa and Georgia. She was an Augusta resident from 1959 until 2021 when she moved to Brandon Wilde in Evans, Georgia.

Doris was an accomplished seamstress, an avid reader, a dissectologist, and a frequent traveler throughout the U.S. and abroad. Her last international travel was to Russia in her late 80's. Doris also owned her own business as a research interviewer for many years.

Doris is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Ruth Goetz; her brothers Elmer Goetz, Glenn Getz, Robert Goetz, Nelson Goetz and Mac Goetz; her first husband John Highsmith; her second husband Marty Charnock; and her daughter Elva Green. Doris is survived by two siblings, Kenneth Goetz of Perry, GA, and Joann Britt of Fort Valley, GA; her daughter Linda Bryans of Peachtree Corners, GA; her granddaughter Julie Sneed (Andy) of Castle Rock, CO; her great-grandchildren Garrett Sneed of Belcamp, MD, and Sydney Sneed of Chicago, IL.

Doris' family would like to thank the staff at Brandon Wilde, Regency SouthernCare Hospice, and Lilly's Private Care for their outstanding care and compassion of Doris during the last years of her life.

Per Doris' wishes, a graveside service will be held at Westover Memorial Park, 2601 Wheeler Road, Augusta, GA, on Monday, December 8, 2025 at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Dr. Scott Pickering officiating.
