Eugene Whitaker Obituary
Funeral service will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Blythe, GA, Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 2 PM with visitation one hour prior to time of service, with Pastor Brian O'Neal officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Eugene loved his family and was married to love of his life, Iris for 48 years. After graduating high school, he was in the Naval Reserves for 8 years.
Eugene enjoyed his work as a transportation driver for various companies, including Eli Whit for many years, in later years, he worked at Westside High School as a custodian.
Eugene loved to fish, he and Iris spent many hours at the brother-in-law's pond.
Eugene was predeceased in death by his parents; William Forest Whitaker and Louise Anderson Whitaker, daughter; Melody Nunnary, sister; Betty June Riley.
Eugene is survived by his wife; Iris Whitaker, one niece; Beverly Riley Whitaker; one granddaughter; Rachel McDonald, two grandsons; Dylan, and Jonathan Watkins; brother in law; Jerry Newman (Phyllis), sister in laws; Joy Newman Meyer, Janice Newman Corley, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A special Thank You to Patrick Meyer for all the help and support throughout Eugene's illness.

So sorry to hear of Genes passing, a wonderful humble man!! A good friend since we were boys ! Health has kept us from seeing one another for several years, Nothing but good memories, of Gene ! Had breakfast with him for many years at Bo Jangles , he loved those Gravy bisquets !!
