Gerald Paul Obituary

Appling, GA – Gerald Eugene Paul, 87, devoted husband to the late Carol Bennett Paul for 51 years, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family and loved ones on December 18, 2025. He was born on November 12, 1938, in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, to Dorothy Paul and Roy Paul.

Gerald was a longtime resident of Augusta, GA, who retired from International Paper Company. He attended the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering. He worked in the paper mill industry most of his career. He was a devoted member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church and an avid golfer. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and uncle. During football season he could be found cheering on the Wisconsin Badgers on Saturdays and the Green Bay Packers on Sundays.

Family members include daughters: Tonya Paul Auenson (David), Tammy Paul Steinmeyer (Michael); grandchildren: Kevin Steinmeyer (Meredith) and Megan Steinmeyer; brothers Don Paul (Elaine) and Tom Paul (Julie) and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church on December 29, 2025, at 11:00am. Following the mass, a short service will be held at the Columbarium.

A special thank you to Affinis Hospice, Melody Abbott and Prescilla Albea for treating him with love and such care in his final days.
