Leonard Eugene Tuvell Jr.

1947 - 2023

Leonard Eugene Tuvell, Jr., 76, aka "Leo" or "Sonny", entered into rest on the morning of August 24, 2023, at home with his family.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Mary Tuvell; and his brother, Jack Tuvell. He is survived by his brother, George (Janet) Tuvell; sister-in-law, Kathy (Jack) Tuvell; daughter, Kimberly Tuvell; nieces, Jennifer Huddleson and Katie Tuvell; nephews, Richard (Amy) Tuvell and Joe (Jie) Tuvell; plus multiple great and great-great nieces and nephews. Sonny was also beloved and will be missed by great friends, including special friends of 35+ years, Rita Jackson and John Howt.

Sonny was retired Army, serving 20+ years serving around the world, including a deployment in the Vietnam War and being stationed in South Korea. He worked for about 10 years in the transportation industry closely tied to CSX Railroad. He loved his family and a family of friends. He loved the great outdoors including fishing and loved taking care of a menagerie of animals. He had a passion for working with the youth in baseball and football as a referee or umpire. Raised in New Lebanon, Ohio, he spent his last years in Thomson, Georgia.

Funeral services with full military honors will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, August 31, 2023, in the chapel at Bellevue Memorial Gardens, 4501 Wrightsboro Rd, Grovetown GA 30813, with interment on the grounds immediately following. The family will receive friends in the chapel at Bellevue Memorial Gardens one hour prior to service time.
