James Grant Kimos, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather has passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024. Born in New York on October 8, 1939.
James is survived by his beloved wife Elaine Kimos; his sons, Stephen (wife Jill) and Andy Kimos; his daughter, Stefanie Kimos; his grandchildren, Kara, Isabel, Grant, and Evan; and his siblings Constance Kimos and Peter F. K. Stucki. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
A public viewing will take place at Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Monday September 9, 2024 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00pm. A Graveside Service to honor James will be held at the Greek Orthodox Cemetery on September 10, 2024, at 11:00 am.
James, also known as "Jim" to many friends, grew up in Baltimore and graduated from Polytechnical High School. He had a long-tenured career as a science teacher for Baltimore County Public Schools. Many of his students enjoyed his teaching methods laced with humor and humility and still remember him fondly as an impactful educator in their lives.
Jim was also known for his melodious singing voice which blended distinctly as he served congregations at St.Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Gatch Memorial United Methodist Church and as an unforgettable Bass in the Chorus of the Chesapeake for which he was a member for 50 years.
Jim had a love of horseback riding, reading books about history and traveling the world with his wife, including several trips to Greece.
