Jeffrey Walter Mead, 76, of Hanover, Maryland passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 11th 2024. He was born in Syracuse, NY in 1948 to parents, Lillian Richardson and Walter Mead. He graduated from Tupper Lake High School in Tupper Lake, NY in 1966. He joined the US Navy in 1967, and as an Electronics Technician Second Class (E-5), served honorably for 6 years at FOCCPAC, Oahu, HI, Naval Construction Battalion, Diego Garcia and NAVCOMSTA Londonderry, Northern Ireland.
Following his discharge from the US Navy he devoted 50+ years of his life to the railroad with Amtrak, NJ Transit and Caltrain. He retired from Amtrak as a superintendent for the Acela program.
Jeff loved fresh water fishing, camping and spending time outdoors with his family.
Jeffrey was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Moynihan, father, Walter Mead, stepfather, Hugh Moynihan, his sisters Debra Mead, Judy (Fred) LaDue, and wife of 42 years, Janet Mead. He is survived by his wife, of 2 years, Dottie Mead, children Sean (Vera Brennan) Mead, Stephanie (Stacy) Kuchinski, Christopher Mead and his siblings, Michael (Mary Joanne) Mead, Kathleen (Stephen) Delair, Eileen (Thomas) Papineau, and Hugh D. Moynihan. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Kaitlyn (Mike Olson), Kyle and Kellee Kuchinski, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His celebration of life will be conducted at Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie, MD on Sunday August 11th @1pm
