It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John J. Poyer III, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who departed this life on April 30, 2025, at the age of 87. Born in Maryland, John lived a life full of purpose and joy, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew him.
John served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Following his military service, he dedicated his career to teaching commercial baking at Baltimore City Schools, where he inspired many students with his passion for the culinary arts.
He is survived by his wife, Theresa Archambault. He was the beloved husband of the late Martha Poyer. John was the devoted father of Cindy Turcea and her husband Robert, Carole Featheringham and her husband Brian, and Christy Poyer. He cherished the role of grandfather to Ben Turcea and Annie Boyle and her husband Brad. He was also a beloved brother to Albert Poyer, Richard Poyer and his wife Diane, David Poyer and his wife Donna, and Dorothy Krebner. Additionally, he leaves behind many nephews and nieces who held a special place in his heart.
John's warm spirit, kind nature, and generous heart created an everlasting impact on those around him. His laughter and wisdom will be beautifully remembered, and while his absence will be deeply felt, his legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate John's life and legacy. A public viewing will be held at the Connelly Funeral Home of Dundalk on Monday, May 5, 2025 from 1:30-4:30 PM and 6:30-8:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Our Lady of Fatima Church on May 6, 2025, at 10:00 AM, followed by a graveside service at Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery where John will be laid to rest.
