Leslie Paige Hughan, 41, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2024. Leslie was born February 23, 1983, to Robert and MaryLou Brzuchalski Beck. She was a lifelong Marylander, born in Baltimore, raised in Glen Burnie, and most recently, a resident of Bowie. She attended Hood College in Frederick, Md., where she studied Communication Arts and made friendships that will last far beyond her death.
Leslie’s career began in hospital administration but, with the premature birth of her twins, Celia and Ben, Leslie became a stay-at-home mom, a dedicated caregiver, and a ferocious advocate for her children—a real-life superhero. In her last few years, Leslie enjoyed a second career as an editor and communications specialist with Blue Wagon Group.
Life gave Leslie more than her share of challenges, and she met them with a resilient strength that was superhuman. Her warmth, joy, and humor were magical, and the world is utterly changed without her.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Beck; her father-in-law, Richard Hughan; and her brother-in-law, Scott Hughan. She is survived by her husband of 17 years, Bryan Hughan; their four beautiful children, Gin, Dex, Celia, and Benny; their dog Banana; her mother, MaryLou Brzuchalski Beck; her mother-in-law, Jeanne Hughan; her stepmother, Donna Beck; and many other heartbroken relatives and friends.
The family will receive visitors at Singleton Funeral and Cremation Services (1 2nd Ave. SW, Glen Burnie, Md.) on Sunday, December 8, and Monday, December 9, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. A service will follow on Tuesday, December 10, at 11 a.m. at Severna Park Evangelical Presbyterian Church (110 Ritchie Hwy, Pasadena, Md.).
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. A GoFundMe has been set up to help support Leslie’s children :
