Melvin Stuples Obituary

Melvin Eugene "Gene" Stuples, 82, of Sykesville passed away on Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Carroll Hosptial. He was born on September 5, 1941, in Craigsville, VA to the late Guy L. Nellie M. Nicely Stuples. He was the loving husband of Lenora M. Gayhardt Stuples. Gene had owned and operated GPM machine shop in Baltimore for many years. He served in the US Army as a Medic during Vietnam and was a member of the Sykesville American Legion, Post #223. He enjoyed tinkering and fixing things in his garage. Surviving in addition to his wife are son Timothy Stuples of Sykesville, grandsons Anthony and Christopher Stuples, brother Ray Stuples and wife Janie of Elkridge and sister Doris Frye of Staunton, VA. He was predeceased by his son Michael Scott Stuples. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5pm on Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Road, Sykesville. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Monday, August 12, 2024, at Oakland United Methodist Church, 5901 Mineral Hill Road, Sykesville. Interment will follow in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Marriottsville. Those desiring may make memorial donations to the American Diabetes Association.
