I am blessed to have met Owen for the short time I knew him. He told me how blessed he was to work at Haight Funeral home for well over 30 years. One of the most kindest men I have ever spoken to. May God bless him and his family. He was a special man.

Hank Norris and his mom, Mabel, were close friends of my family, the Henze's. As a young man, my father employed Hank as a driver to pick up parts for his business, and to build a 1-car stone parking spot for our home on Norwood Avenue in Sykesville. At the time, I was probably about 8 and would chatter at him while he worked tirelessly to complete the job. I'm sure I was a pest, but Hank was so kind and friendly and would always engage in conversation with me. After moving out of the area as a young adult, I would periodically see and chat and share a hug with Hank when I would return to visit family. I also encountered him on many sad occasions at Haight's after losing a friend or family member. I am truly saddened by his passing and wish to extend my sincere condolences to his family.

To Hanky's family, and friends, my sincere condolences on the loss of a true, rare, gentleman. As my sister Lisa said, Hank was a childhood friend of our mother, Elizabeth "Betty" Henze (Lyons). They were close neighbors. That friendship was shared by our father, Roger Lyons, and to all 5 of us "Lyons kids". During my service as a medic and firefighter with Sykesville FDFD, I assisted Hanky with dignified retrievals of several departed citizens. ALWAYS a gentleman, ALWAYS kind words, ALWAYS a gentle hand, ALWAYS respectful to both family and departed. Hank Norris is a fine example of how we all should be towards each other. REST IN PEACE HANKY. You ARE and WILL BE MISSED.
A bit of humor for Hanky... Hopefully, others will remember the "musical casket" incident?. As told to and by my mother...
A younger man passed tragically, a fan of loud heavy "metal rock" music. To allow the young man to enjoy his music into the afterlife, family provided a large "boombox" player, with his favorite collection of music on tape. Hanky returned from a late night pickup from Baltimore, placing his pickup in the receiving area under the funeral home. As he turned out the lights, the boombox activated at Volume 11, causing poor Hanky to make an emergency visit to the restroom.
REST IN PEACE MR NORRIS.

Hanky was one of the nicest people ever. He was a life long friend of my mother and his work with Haights. He will surely be missed. Prayers to his family and friends.

I met Hank for the first time on Wednesday Oct 8 and got to listen to his life's story. He taught me so many important things in that hour visit that I hope others can learn from his legacy. Thank you Hank, you will be missed.
