Stephen Dorsey Obituary
Stephen Michael Dorsey Sr., a devoted father, loving brother, cherished grandfather, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 22nd, 2025, at his home in Pasadena, Maryland. Born on Friday, February 12th, 1943, in Baltimore, Maryland, Stephen was 82 years old.
Stephen was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Howard Francis Dorsey and Helen Dorsey, and his brother, Howard Dorsey, II. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Dorsey; children, Lisa Basciano, Sandy Sanschagrin, and Stephen Dorsey, Jr.; his twin brother, Harold Dorsey; and three grandchildren, Natalie and Camryn Sanschagrin, and Kyrsten Basciano, who will all carry forward his legacy of love and strength.
A dedicated and hardworking individual, Stephen spent 30 years as an engineer, a profession where his meticulous nature truly shone. His career was marked by a deep dedication to precision and innovation, qualities that earned him the respect and admiration of his colleagues and industry peers.
Stephen proudly served in the Army, a chapter of his life that instilled in him a profound appreciation for discipline and service, principles he reflected in all aspects of his life.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Stephen was a man of multifaceted interests. He had a passion for sailing and boating, finding peace and joy out on the water. An avid craftsman, he was known for his woodworking skills and had a particular fondness for building, having constructed a couple of small lighthouses and often tinkering with various projects. Renowned as a jack of all trades, Stephen could fix just about anything and was happiest when working with his hands. His waterfront home, a dream he brought to life after years of searching and meticulous refurbishing, stands as a testament to his determination and love for the outdoors.
Stephen spent much of his time outdoors and was not one for indoor leisure. He loved working in his garage and relished in keeping himself busy with projects that kept his hands and mind active.
Stephen Michael Dorsey Sr. leaves behind a legacy as a man who embodied diligence, creativity, and a profound love for his family and the natural world. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
