Eva Hurayt Obituary
Eva Elizabeth Hurayt, 50, of Atlanta, and recently of Brunswick, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 7, 2021, of natural causes.
Eva was born on Dec. 27, 1970, in Atlanta. She graduated from Gables Academy and retired from a career at MARTA in 2016. She was a member of Tapestry Church, where she helped prepare Sunday breakfast for those experiencing homelessness. Eva was a gentle soul and cared deeply for her friends, with whom she shared many happy hours. Eva enjoyed cooking, playing the guitar, singing and doing cross stitch.
Eva spent the past six months with her family in Brunswick and reconnected with her love of the area. She spent time walking by the ocean and on the St. Simons Island Pier. Eva had a love of nature and a special fondness for her beloved marmalade cat, Julious. She was a loyal and active member of a recovery community, where she enjoyed connecting with the friends she made there. Despite her many health challenges, Eva was always ready to lend a hand to others.
Eva is survived by her father, Andrew Hurayt, MD, and stepmother, Lisa Hurayt, of Brunswick; her mother, Sarah Mills, and stepfather, Thomas Bowman, of Atlanta; her sisters, Anna and Meghan and their families; as well as her aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be conducted at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bobby Dodd Institute, 2120 Marietta Blvd. NW, Atlanta, GA 30318.

Eva was such a lovely, beautiful, and special person. I was so lucky to be able to call her my friend. I got to spend a few hours with her a few weeks ago and I was able to give her a hug and tell her that I loved her. I had no idea that it would be the last time. I will miss her and all of the laughs we had together and I will treasure all of the memories that I have with her. She was so excited to play her new guitar for me, and we talked about how much she enjoyed walking on the beach. She looked terrific when I saw her. I love you Eva - I will miss you and think of you often. Fly high and fly free and rest in peace my dear friend.
