Dennis and Sharon Folsom
H. Dennis Folsom and Sharon Holt Folsom, beloved lifelong residents of Brunswick, passed away just one day apart - Dennis on Thursday, Oct. 16, 2025, and Sharon on Friday, Oct. 17, 2025. Married for over 40 years, their lives were defined by love, faith and service to each other, their community and their church.
Dennis was born in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late Herman Wilson Folsom and Adele Brown Folsom, but he was a lifelong resident of Brunswick. A 1959 graduate of Glynn Academy and a 1962 graduate of Middle Georgia College, he served honorably in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1966, including a tour of duty in Vietnam. Upon returning home, he began his career at Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, later earning his Associate Degree in Mortuary Science from John A. Gupton College in 1969. Dennis dedicated over four decades to funeral service, guiding thousands of families with compassion and professionalism until his retirement in 2015.
Sharon was born in Dublin, and raised near Soperton. She was the daughter of the late James Elmo Holt and Allie Grace Wilkes Holt. After the death of her father in World War II, her mother remarried Wade Brantley, who lovingly became the only father Sharon ever knew. A graduate of the Treutlen High School Class of 1962, she earned her Associate of Arts degree from Brewton-Parker College in 1964 and her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Georgia Southern University in 1966. Sharon began a 30-year teaching career with the Glynn County School System, spending her entire tenure at Altama Elementary School. After retirement, she continued to serve others through her work with the Arthur J. Moore Methodist Museum and later with a group of insurance adjusters.
Both Dennis and Sharon were active members of College Place United Methodist Church, where they found a spiritual home and community. Sharon was deeply involved in the church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir and holding various leadership roles over the years. She was known for her warmth, her gift for hospitality and her love of reading and cooking. Dennis served the church faithfully and was a member of the Graduate Embalmers of Georgia and Sigma Phi Sigma.
They are preceded in death by Sharon's sister, Sandra Grace Holt; and their "adopted" grandson, Miccah G. Williamson. They are survived by Dennis's sisters, Sue Ellen Green (Harley) and Elaine F. Hollamans (Larry); their godson, Alan F. Wendel (Tracey); their goddaughter, Amy Wendel Powers (Jason); and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
A double funeral service celebrating both of their lives will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 27, 2025, in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Palmetto Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home.
Contributions on their behalf can be made to College Place United Methodist Church.
