Janet Goff Obituary

Janet Goff

Janet Kilcrease Goff, 64, of Sylvester, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 31, 2021, at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Jesup, Georgia. Born on Aug. 20, 1957, in Sylvester, Georgia, to James Elbert Kilcrease and Vera Mildred Kilcrease, she was a resident of Brunswick, Georgia, and Darien, Georgia, for the past 36 years with her loving husband Richmond "Richie" Earl Goff Jr. Together, they raised four sons, Bryan, Brent, Jared, and Adam Goff.

Janet was a beloved educator in the Glynn County School System for over 25 years, spending her career at Altama Elementary School, C.B. Greer Elementary School, Burroughs-Molette Elementary School, and St. Simons Elementary School. The impact she made in Glynn County lives on through the many teachers she mentored as well as the students she taught over the years. She loved baseball and enjoyed every game she could possibly squeeze in often traveling to multiple games to be sure she could take in as many moments as possible of all of her baseball players, big and small. Family meant the world to her, and it was evident in every day of her life.

An active member of her church, The Chapel, she served faithfully in the children's ministry program. Her presence made everyone around her feel the warmth and joy of Christ's love. Welcoming everyone with a smile and a hug, she was the image of a faithful servant leader. Serving also as a member of the prayer team; there was never a need too big or too small that she wouldn't pray fervently over for any member of the church. She will live on in the hearts of many at The Chapel.

Janet is preceded in death by her father, James Elbert Kilcrease, of Poulan, Georgia.

Survivors include her mother, Vera Kilcrease; her husband of 45 years, Richmond "Richie" Goff Jr. of Hortense; four sons, Bryan Goff and wife, Sherri, of Hazlehurst, Georgia, Brent Goff and wife, Kassie, of Brunswick, Georgia, Jared Goff and wife, Janna, of Brunswick, Georgia and Adam Goff and wife, Rebecca, of Brunswick, Georgia, eight grandchildren, Hunter, Nick, Brayden, Parker, Maeson, Riggin, Ben and Porter Goff; one brother, Steve Kilcrease (wife, Nett) of Sylvester, Georgia; and many adoring aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Janet's honor to Hope 1312 Collective, P.O. Box 2114, Brunswick, GA 31521.

A celebration of life will be planned for a later date to be shared with friends and family. Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home, www.edomillerandsons.com, is entrusted with the arrangements.

Sincere condolences to family and friends. Mrs. Goff was my son's first grade teacher. She was the most caring and helpful teacher who strived to have fun while they learned. We would bump into each other occasionally and I still felt the same energy. She touched many. Loving prayers from the Hunter family
