John Douberly
John Richard Douberly Jr., 76, of Mount Pleasant, passed away Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at Wayne Memorial Hospital, in Jesup.
Born in Hortense, Ga,, his parents were John Richard Douberly Sr., and Evelyn Little Douberly. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jennifer Howard; and a daughter-in-law, Christy Lane Douberly.
Mr. Douberly was a 1965 graduate of Wayne County High School and went on to serve in the United States Army and the Vietnam War. He was a member of Bay Harbour Brantley and a kind and humble man who loved God and his family. He also enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Vicki Jacobs Douberly, of Mount Pleasant; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jay Douberly (Tiffany), of Brunswick and Todd Douberly, of Mount Pleasant; a son-in-law, Randall Howard, also of Mount Pleasant; nine grandchildren, Kayla Smith, Chris Kennedy, Keaton Perez, Leighton Howard, Marissa Rogers, Payton Perez, Alyson Rogers, Ansley Rowland and Jayla Howard; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Joe Douberly (Edna), Ralph Douberly (Yvonne), Clarence Douberly, Donald Douberly and Wendell Douberly (Gail), all of Hortense; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty Matthey (Cassel), of West Virginia; and also several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.
The visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2022 at Bay Harbour Brantley.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at Bay Harbour Brantley, with the Rev. Tommy Gill and the Rev. Keith Brown officiating.
Burial, with military honors, will be in Little Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Joey Douberly, Richie Douberly, Chris Kennedy, Keaton Perez, Leighton Howard and Payton Perez.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Vietnam Combat Veterans Group.
