Pamela Pate Hammer Obituary

Pamela Hammer

Unexpectedly on July 15, Pamela Pate Hammer of Jacksonville, Florida, bid farewell to this world to soar among the angels.

Born on April 21, 1954, to Thomas and Evelyn Pate, Pam pursued her education at Mercer University, where she obtained her law degree with a focus on economics.

Described as a loving, caring, funny, hardworking, and no-nonsense individual, Pam crossed paths with Bob in 1974, leading to a devoted, enduring lifetime of commitment - truly a remarkable union that stood the test of time; 48 years of marriage that would have been celebrated on July 16, 2024.

Together, they formed an unbeatable team, opening Pam's #1 on Feb. 14, 1978. Throughout their 46 years of service to the law enforcement community and others, Pam truly embodied the essence of being Pam's number one. Those who encountered Pam were left with undeniable memories of her radiant smile and compassionate nature, always ready with a kind or wise word to share.

Pam is survived by her husband Bob Hammer; three children; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three pups and many, many friends from throughout her journey.

Bob, I am the proud owner of one of Pam´s puppies! This is heartbreaking news! After adopting my sweet angel we remained friends. She treated me to several trips to Biloxi! I will cherish Pam forever in my heart! She was so beautiful and the smartest person I ever met and gave me my beautiful Lizzy!

Bob,
I am so sorry for your loss. You and Pam made such a wonderful impact on me and so many others who had the good fortune to pass through the front door of PAM´s #1. I remember the first time I walked into PAM´s as a newly hired agent attending FLETC in 1989. You and Pam made me and my classmates (CI-930) feel so welcome and part of a community. This experience of camaraderie set the tone for the rest of my career.

My memories of those early days, beginning my career in federal law enforcement, and attending FLETC were made even more memorable because of you and Pam.

It was so good to see you both again in October 2022 and to experience PAM´s #1 one more time.

Thanks to you and Pam for all you have done to welcome and support law enforcement. My deepest condolences and my sincere thanks.

I am so sorry to learn of Pam's passing. My first "stop" at "Pam's" was 35 years ago, and I still remember the smile and welcome she offered to a complete stranger. Bob, my prayers are with you and your family. As one one from the literal generations of Feds who enjoyed the hospitality (and often, counsel) that you and Pam so generously offered, thank you for sharing that slice of your lives together with us.

Pam was my Godmother, and next to my parents and sisters, Bob and Pam were the largest mainstay in my life growing up. Every birthday and graduation was spent with them at the pool or the bar. Pam gave me my first job and fostered my love for cosmos - of which she made the best! There is a large hole in my heart and my heart continues to break for Bob. The only comfort is knowing she is reunited with dad, Nat, Ms Evelyn, and all the loved ones who have passed before her.

Dear Bob,
Nancy and I were so saddened to hear of Pam´s passing. I recall, fondly, of all the times that Pam and you were at our FLETC staff softball games. I still have my Pam´s #1 shirt that we wore. May God give you and your family peace and comfort during this most difficult time.

Bob, my thoughts, prayers and condolences to you and the family on the passing of Pam. It was always a joy to stop by and have a delicious dinner while conversing with Pam. You made some great meals. Pam was a big supporter of law enforcement, as you are, and made us feel like family.

She called us her PLB's (Pam's little buddies). I know I, as well as many others, will miss her. I always remember seeing her behind the bar when I walked in there. She was a great host all these years. If we can do anything for you, please let us know. I know it is a shock for you and a piece of you will always be missing in your heart. You two were the backbone of PAMS. God Bless my friend.

Bob and Family;
What a shock it was when we learned of Pam passing. Pam always made everyone feel welcome when they visited Pam's #1. People from all over the world were treated with kindness, and made to feel comfortable while away from their own family. What a remarkable woman and friend for the many decades she served our community. Bob, you can surely cook delicious food in the restaurant, but we will truly miss her smile, and jovial attitude, when she would serve the plates of food to us. What a blessing it was for us to have been considered family.

Bob
Sara and I extend our condolences to you and the family on the passing of Pam.
During my tenure as Director of the FLETC she was , along with you, an institution that was part of FLETC,S strength. One of my fondest memories about Pam´s # 1 was during the visit of President George H W Bush in 1989. The first thing he said after being introduced to speak outside the Steed Building was " Boy, it´s hot. Charlie you better take everyone here to Pam´s for a cold drink May God rest her soul and bless you and your family in this time of grief.
