Suzanne Burch Obituary
Suzanne Marie Patrick Burch passed away on Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, at her home in San Antonio, Texas, after a brief illness. She was 73 years old. "Suzy" was surrounded by her loving family at the time of her passing.
Born Suzanne Marie Patrick in Jacksonville, she was raised in Brunswick, and was a graduate of St. Francis Xavier School and Jane Macon Middle School. After graduating from Glynn Academy with the Class of 1968, Suzy attended Brunswick College and received her degree in nursing.
Suzanne would practice healthcare as a registered nurse for the next 40 years. While living in Brunswick and on St. Simons Island, she worked in the SICU at Brunswick Hospital.
She raised her son in Atlanta and her professional career continued at Piedmont Hospital, where she worked in multiple departments. She later moved to San Antonio, and worked in the tele-health industry for CVS. As a nurse, Suzy was known as much for her professionalism as her empathy for patients.
Suzy would live the rest of her life in San Antonio, embracing the culture and hospitality of that city. Her interests were wide-ranging and varied. Cooking, fashion, travel, art, gardening, family, fishing, Westerns, Georgia football and Celine Dion were just some of Suzy's interests. She was a "beach girl" at heart and always considered Brunswick and St. Simons her home.
She was beautiful inside and out and considered a true, loyal friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert F. and Rosemary Salins Patrick; and her brothers, Robert Vincent Patrick and James Richard Patrick.
She is survived by her son, Jason Burch, of San Antonio; sisters, Barbara Patrick Lee of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Mary Patrick Blackwell of Brunswick; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins who loved her as much as she loved them.
A memorial visitation will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024, at Brunswick Memorial Park Funeral Home. Interment will commence at noon in Brunswick Memorial Park.

Today is my mother's birthday. It is a nostalgic and bittersweet day for those who loved her.
I think of this time last year. My mother traveled to Georgia to celebrate with her sister, Mary, whose birthday was one day prior. It was a great time. They ate good food, reminisced and took in some sites. A happy time! A happy birthday!
One week later was Christmas. My mother became sick and couldn't hold down food. The remaining 8-9 months of her life would be excruciating. She couldn't hold down food, couldn't sleep properly and would never find relief for the severe pain she had every single remaining day of her life.
I want anyone reading this to know how much she went through and how much grace, class and dignity she managed to keep. She is my hero.
On this day I choose to celebrate that last birthday. How grateful I am that she spent it with her sister and had a last look at her hometown. A truly Happy Birthday!
We love you! We are thinking of you!

With a heavy heart I'm sad to say I have lost my sister Suzy, a sister who stood side by side by me for 73 years through good times and bad-through thick and thin. She showed up and came whenever I needed her-without fail-from wherever she may have been.
How do people make it through life without a sister? I'm thanking God through this difficult time for giving her to me as my sister-for it was a true blessing.

I worked with Suzy in SICU back in the late 70´s/early 80´s. She was an excellent role model for me and I admired her so. The last memory I have is of her telling me she was moving to Atlanta with her son and she was really looking forward. I thought of her many times over the years and have nothing but fond memories. My condolences to Jason and the rest of the family.
