Cora Cummins Obituary

Cora Sue (Barnes) Cummins, age 79, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at her home on Oct. 8, 2025. She was born on Sept. 27, 1946, in Marshall, Arkansas, the daughter of Winfred and Bonnie Lou Barnes. She graduated from Marshall High School in 1964.

Cora received her bachelor's and master's degrees at the University of Central Arkansas. She was a lifelong educator, teaching English and speech for 37 years in the Conway Public Schools. For six years she was a literacy consultant with E2E Educational Consultants.

Her life was very full being a wife, mother, grandmother and teacher, yet she also found time to be a lifelong learner. Her recreational interest included gardening, travel and reading. A more complete obituary appears at www. rollerfuneralhomes.com.

A memorial service will be Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Conway, Arkansas, with Father Jason Alexander officiating. A reception will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the UCA Foundation in care of the Cora Barnes Cummins Endowed Scholarship Fund, 201 Donaghey Ave., Box 4986, Conway, Arkansas, 72035.

My thoughts and prayers for the family. Mrs. Cummins was a former teacher of mine. She was one of the greatest educators that I have had in my entire educational journey. Know the "book lessons" and more importantly the moral guidance you gave us is still resonates today.
