Col. (retired) Donald L. Sears, 85, joined the Lord's army on April 4, 2025, leaving nothing behind but valuable lessons and fond memories with all who have known him.
His impactful journey on this earth began Aug. 27, 1939, in Hanford, California. Col. Sears grew up in the farming community of Halliday located in Greene County, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Andrew Sears and Dahlia Lipe Sears of Marmaduke.
Col. Sears is survived by his wife of 43 years, Col. (retired) Mary Frances "Frankie" Sears of Mayflower; his sister, Betty Presson of Paragould; his children, Todd Sears of Little Rock, Nichole (Cash) Tomlinson of Sherwood, Roni (Larry) Bowman of Malvern; his grandchildren, Justin (Nicole) Bowman, Kaitlyn Williams, Savannah Sears, Sterling Sears, Nicholas Williams, Rylie Tomlinson; one great-granddaughter, Samantha Bowman; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Park on the River located at 11903 Crystal Hill Road, Maumelle, Arkansas, 72113. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 14, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery (1501 W. Maryland Ave., North Little Rock, Arkansas, 72120). I worked for Mr. Sears while he was a warrant officer with the Arkansas National Guard from 1968 -1972 as a supply specialist. I found him to be a good person to work for and as a good person. My condolences to the family.
