Joe Reid Obituary

Joe Allen Reid died on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. He was born in Conway, Arkansas, on Sept. 23, 1945, to the late Joe W. "Speedy" and Mildred Reid. He is preceded in death by a brother, Brian Wahl.

Joe was a graduate of Conway High School and an All State football player his senior year of high school. Joe was a "True Wampus Cat!" He served his country in the army reserves for 6 years. He worked for Dean's Milk of Conway for over 20 years and retired from the maintenance department of Conway Public Schools.

Joe was of the Baptist faith and a member of Pickles Gap Baptist Church. He loved serving the congregation by preparing and serving meals. He served as a volunteer peewee football, girls' basketball, and softball coach for many years, touching many young athletes' lives.

Joe loved attending all the activities that his grandchildren were involved in. He also enjoyed spending time traveling, camping, and fishing with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joyce Stevenson Reid; daughters, Tonya (Darrell) Walsh, Leslie VanPelt and Melissa Snowden; grandchildren, Tyler (Hannah) Walsh, Logan (Shaelyn) Walsh, Taylor Snowden and Jaylynn (Clark) Hogan.

Visitation will be Sunday, June 18, 2023, from 2-4 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home in Conway, Arkansas. A funeral service celebrating Joe's life will be at Pickles Gap Baptist Church on Monday, June 19 at 10 a.m. followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Pickles Gap Baptist Church Children and Youth fund. www.griffinleggettconway.com.
