Phyllis Smith Obituary

Phyllis Joanne Smith, age 72, of Conway, passed from this life on Saturday, Oct. 18, 2025, at her home. She was born Feb. 17, 1953, in Hot Springs, the daughter of the late John and jean Francis Delong. Joanne was a 1971 graduate of Amity High School. She worked at the Conway Human Development Center where she was affectionately called "Mama Jo". Joanne also did childcare in her home for several years and worked in various fast-food places and cafes. She was a Christian by faith. Joanne enjoyed reading, flower gardening and working puzzles in her free time. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Johnnie Davidson; her brother-in-law, Burton Davidson; one grandson, Tadaro Credit; and beloved pet, Bootsie.

Survivors are her husband, Michael Smith of Conway; one daughter, Julie Baldreas of Conway; two sisters, Debbie Buck (Vance) of Alpine and Barbara Russell (Tommy) of Fortuna, California; two grandchildren, Michael Chapmond and Lathaniel Credit both of Hot Springs; and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 23, 2025, at Welch Funeral Home.

Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery at Alpine.
