William Whitenack Obituary

William Harris Whitenack, DMV, 84, died Friday, July 15, 2011, at Conway Regional Hospital.
He was born Jan. 24, 1927, to Raymond Hazelton Whitenack and Verda Alice Whitenack in Philadelphia, Penn.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Joy; one sister, Grace Hayden of Kansas City; and devoted nieces and nephews.
Bill graduated from Olathe, Kansas High School in 1945. He served two years in the U.S. Army. He married Joy Robinett in 1949. He graduated from Kansas State University and taught vocational agriculture for five years in Louisburg, Kan. He was accepted into veterinary school and graduated in 1963 from Kansas State University. He practiced in Grand Island, Neb., for 25 years. He loved both large and small animals and his clients loved him. Health problems forced him to retire and in 1988 he and Joy moved to Conway.
Bill enjoyed traveling and was an active member of the Council for International Visitors. He was a lifelong Presbyterian, a 50 year member of Peace Masonic Lodge in Kansas. He was an honor roll member of The American Veterinary Association, served on the Nebraska Veterinary Association Board of Directors and was a member of many other organizations in Nebraska.
Bill has been an active bass fiddle player in Conway, and enjoyed entertaining the residents at area nursing homes as a member of the Lollie Bottom Blue Grass Boys. He was currently treasurer of the Arkansas Fiddler's Association.
Bill's body has been donated to scientific research.

Joy, I'm having a hard time accepting Bill's passing and I am sure this has left a great void for you. Bill had a big influence on my career and it is difficult to see old partners called home-we'll miss him. Bill Carson
