Salinas
Irene Phyllis Day, 89, of Salinas, passed away Monday, July 7, 2014. She was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Canada.
She was known as the "Rabbit Lady" at the Windsor the Ridge where she cared for the facility's rabbit. She lived there for the past six years
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Day.
She is survived by her sister, June Thompson of Chico; son, Mike Evertson of Salinas; daughter, Terry Hilliard of Seaside; granddaughters, Kim Holt of Soquel, Karen Northrop of Jamestown, Gena Evertson of Dallas, TX.; and grandsons, Aaron Daniels of Salinas and Steve Daniels of Bradington, FL.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Today, July 9, 2014, at Struve and Laporte Chapel, 41 W. San Luis St., Salinas, CA 93901.
Entombment will be at Chico Memorial Mausoleum, in Chico.
Donations can be made to the Cancer Society or Cystic Fibrosis.
Funeral arrangements by Struve and Laporte Funeral Home.

I met Irene while she resided at The Ridge across the hall from my mother. She was such a sweet and gentle lady. I'm sorry to hear of her passing.

I had the pleasure to meet and know Irene when I stopped by the Ridge to visit Stan Costa. They were the best of friends. Irene was a kind lady who loved God and her family. My sincere condolences to her family.
