Macario "Mac" Venegas II

Macario "Mac" Venegas II passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, he was just 59 years old. He was born Aug. 11, 1955 in Ojinaga Chihuahua, Mexico, where he lived until immigrating to the U.S. with his mother, Maria de Jesus Venegas, father Macario Venegas Sr., and 13 siblings in June of 1965. They made their home in Greenfield for the most part of his youth.

He met his loving wife of 36 years, Delia Landeros Venegas, while attending King City High School where he graduated in 1974. He attended Hartnell College for two years and then enlisted and proudly served his country as a Corporal with the U.S. Marines from 1976 until he was honorably discharged in 1982. He worked for the Soledad Cemetery as an Operations Manager for 20 years. During his later years, he resided at his ranch in Lockwood; where he enjoyed spending his spare time playing with his grandchildren, tending and raising his ranch pet animals, and enjoying his time with the family. He was a wonderful and caring man, who was well respected in the community. He advocated for the youth, was an athletics coach and mentor to many. He made friends easily and was always there when you needed a lending hand. To his family, he was a loving husband, dedicated father, fun-loving grandfather, beloved brother, and adored uncle. To his friends, he was good man and was like family. We will also remember him as a true fan of his favorite team, the Oakland Raiders. He was and forever will be a loyal member of the Raider Nation.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Maria de Jesus and Macario Venegas; brother, Israel Venegas; and nephew, Ricardo Venegas.

He is survived by his wife, Delia Venegas; son, Macario Venegas III and his wife, Gabby and their two children, Jasmine (15) and Johnny (10); son, Carlos Venegas and his wife Susie and their two children, Sophia (7) and Carlos Jr. (6 months); son, Benjamin Venegas and Ruby Rosales with their daughter, Alize (3 months); son, Gabriel Landeros; father-in-law, Carlos Landeros; brothers, Jesus Venegas, Reynaldo Venegas, Reyes Venegas, Javier Venegas, Martin Venegas; sisters, Magdalena Vasquez, Ernestina Chavez, Clara Valdivia, Sonia Venegas, Delfina Ramos, and Veronica Venegas. He is also survived by more than 24 nieces and nephews, a growing number of great nieces and nephews.

The Viewing will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, with the Rosary following at 7:00 p.m.

The Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2015 and burial to follow immediately afterward. All services will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Greenfield.
