Charles "Jay" Eldridge Grandel, Jr. 65 of Fancy Gap, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Twin County Regional Hospital. Mr. Grandel was born in Winchester, Virginia. What a wonderful friend all these years. I met him as my customer 30 + years ago and we were solid from then on. I last spoke to him in Food Lion parking lot talking and laughing and catching up. He told me to come visit and I told him I would love to but I just didn’t make it. Gypsy I have known you since you were in school and I also felt that same connection with you and wanted a real Marine to get conceal carry permit and hooked you up with another Marine who happened to be the sheriff at that particular time. I always told Jay I loved him and he told me he loved me. I know he is in Heaven. What a wonderful human being. Gonna miss my Preacher.

Awh man. I’ve known this man for years and he’s always been so kind and caring towards me. Even when I was going through some dark times he never judged me or looked at me any differently. He was always just as happy to see me and he gave the best hugs. I’m going to miss this man and all the warmth and love that came with him. My heart goes out to his sons and loved ones.
