John Martinez Obituary

John "Babba" Martinez was born in Trinidad, Colorado on July 10, 1955 to John and Mickey Martinez.
John got his GED and graduated from Trinidad State Junior College as a Diesel Mechanic. He worked for York Canyon Coal Mine in New Mexico then later moved to Alabama to work for North River Mine. John was well respected by his peers as a safety representative. He worked as a coal miner for 32 years before he retired. He was a member of the local UMWA 7949 District 22. John loved classic cars and watching westerns. May he rest in peace.
He is preceded in death by his father John R. Martinez; brothers Joey Martinez and Marty Martinez; and his loving wife Rosalie Martinez.
He is survived by his mother Mickey Martinez of Trinidad, CO; son Michael Martinez and his companion Bev; daughters Rose Martinez, Michelle Martinez and her companion James. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and sisters Nancy Alfaro, Leola Sandoval; as well as sister and brother in-law Lupe and Roberto Gonzalez.
Services will be announced at a later date.

John was a wonderful friend. Always happy and laughing. He was his happiest when he was spending time with his wife Shirley and family. The triplets called him PAPA JOHN. John is truly missed. We had the honor of making great memories with him and his wife Shirley. Rest In Peace Papa John
