Louis Duran Obituary

LOUIS DURAN Louis (Lou) Duran, 74, of Mamers, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. Born on February 3, 1951, in Trinidad, Colorado, he was the son of the late Salomon Duran and Mary Gozzie Duran. Lou was preceded in death by his siblings Alfonso Duran and Frank Duran. Lou was married to his beloved wife, Judy Duran, for 12 years. The time together was filled with shared adventures, enduring love, and a bond that will remain unbroken in memory. Lou is survived by his sons, Louis and Michael Duran of Colorado; sisters Sally Duran Bruton of Sanford and Cindy Duran Almanza of California; and his brother, John Duran of California. Lou treasured his grandson, Roman of Colorado, and many loving nieces and nephews on the East and West coasts. A skilled machinist by trade, Lou owned and operated his own machine shop for many years. His craftsmanship, precision, and pride in his work earned him respect from many customers. Lou would always lend a hand to help someone with their mechanical needs. Lou had a passion for the outdoors while in Colorado, and the challenge of hunting elk. The outdoor activity brought him peace and a connection to the land he cherished. Lou's quiet wisdom, strong work ethic, and love for his family and nature will be remembered by all who knew him. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will live on in the stories we share, the lessons he taught, and the trails he walked.
