Mary Ernestine Armijo was born January 12, 1930. The lord called her home on October 29, 2021. Mary was a devoted Catholic and attended mass faithfully at St. Joseph & Holy Trinity Catholic Church. She loved watching (EWTN) Catholic Channel and prayed the rosary daily. She was a member of the Guadelupe Society for many years. Mary attended Trinidad State Junior College where she earned her CNA certification. She was employed at Trinidad State Nursing Home and later transferred to Mt. San Rafael Hospital where she worked in the nursery. It was a position she loved and took joy in caring for the newborn babies. When the nursery closed, she transitioned to the patient care unit and retired after 25 years of service. Mary kept herself busy caring for her great grandchildren and children of her friends. She enjoyed taking care of her home, yard and washing her car. She looked forward to taking trips to Alaska to visit with the Spicola family. Mary was a very caring and loving person who never hesitated to help family and friends. Her hobbies included crocheting and making afghans for her family and baking her Spanish cookies for each holiday. At Christmas time, everyone would wait for her delicious empanadas and assorted Christmas cookies. She also enjoyed canning jelly and jams and sharing with her family. She tied fishing flies to help pay for family vacations. Mary had a heart of gold larger than the sun and moon. Mary was a great mother and always tried to make things easier for her children. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. Preceding her in death are husband (John Armijo); parents (Paul & Lucinda Lopez); daughter (Dolores Padilla; great grandson (Codi Spicola-Jolin); brothers (Pete, John & Richard Lopez); sisters (Dora, Della, MaryLou, Mary Ellan & Priscella); and son-in-law (Gilbert Sanchez).
