Alvin Gobin Obituary
Alvin (Al) Joseph Gobin of Ashford CT passed away peacefully in his sleep from complications caused by COPD, surrounded by family on Monday January 12, 2026 at 76 years of age.
Al was born on November 29, 1949 in Putnam CT to the late Theresa and Leon Gobin. He is predeceased by his two brothers, John and Peter Gobin.
Al's greatest love was his family, spending time with his grandchildren pursuing his hobbies of RC cars, planes and helicopters. He enjoyed the Fryeburg Fair each fall and camping with his loved ones. He got great enjoyment from classic cars, driving his motorcycle and driving trucks. Al was loved for his generous gift of gab, you could frequently find him making friends with strangers anywhere he went.
Al worked for 25 years for the Town of Mansfield Department of Public Works as a laborer and equipment operator before retiring to start his own trucking company with his son in 2001 which they have run for the last 25 years. Al was able to continue the career he loved right up until the end.
Al served his country in the Armed National Forces Army division from 1970 - 1972 discharging honorably in 1972.
Al was survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan (Wilson) Gobin, his daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Ed Borski, his son and daughter-in-law, Ernie and Toni Gobin as well as the lights of his heart, his 3 grandchildren, Connor, Kaleb and Abbi.
He will be missed deeply by his family and friends.

Joan and family, I´m sorry to hear about Alvin´s passing. I remember you and Alvin coming into 7-11 so many years ago. We spent hours talking about world events, town gossip, cars, and family while drinking coffee after coffee. Alvin was a great friend to Henry Suffish (my step dad). They´re probably together working on cars again. My deepest condolences. Patty
