Ellen Boehle Obituary

MANSFIELD CENTER

Ellen Kay Boehle passed away November 14, 2025 at Advent Health Hospital in Daytona, Florida surrounded by her loving family. Ellen was born in Portsmouth, Ohio on July 10, 1947 to the late Robert and Margie (Fout) Trimmer. Ellen grew up in Kettering, Ohio before attending Miami University in Oxford, Ohio to study America Studies, graduating in 1969. Ellen met the love of her life Russell Boehle while moving into an apartment in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the summer of 1969. They have been inseparable ever since. Ellen then went on to achieve her Masters in Educational Psychology from Montclair State University in New Jersey.

In 1972 Ellen and Russ moved to Mansfield Center, Connecticut so Ellen could pursue her career as a special education teacher. Ellen was dedicated to her career and the children and families she served and progressed to her role as school psychologist at Mansfield Middle School for 35 years prior to her retirement in 2011. During her decades in Mansfield Center, Ellen was a devoted and active member at First Church of Christ, Congregationalist in Mansfield. Ellen was always giving of her time and energy to various community and church groups. Ellen loved to keep busy and filled her time with exercise classes, book club, gardening, ski and hiking trips with her close-knit friend group, and planning and executing extensive domestic and world travel with her family and friends. In 2016 Ellen and Russ retired to Palm Coast, Florida where they have enjoyed watching the sun set from their lanai and taking in the beautiful views from the coast.

Ellen is survived by her husband of 55 years, Russell Boehle (Palm Coast, FL); her son, Brian Boehle, his wife, Beth, and their son, Chase (Stafford Springs, CT); her daughter, Kimberly Johnson, her husband, Walter, and their 3 sons; Clayton, Tyler, and Grady (Ball Ground, GA); her sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Bill Lane (Centerville, OH); her brother David Lane (El Cajon, CA); as well as multiple nieces and nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. Ellen found much joy in her children and grandchildren and her care was felt in her every word and action. She will be terribly missed.

A celebration of Ellen's life will be held at the First Church of Christ in Mansfield, Connecticut in the Spring. Details to follow.

Yesterday

So sorry to hear about the loss of Ellen. She will always live on in my memory as a wonderful woman who was always kind to me. Even years after I stopped seeing her in school, she would always stop me to say hi and give me a hug if we ran into each other in the community. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys now as you navigate this.
